What is RERA?
RERA is short for Real Estate Regulatory Agency, and it’s a government agency set to regulate the real estate sector in Dubai. RERA was founded on July 31st, 2007 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.
And what is SIRA?
SIRA is short for Security Industry Regulatory Agency, and this is the government agency responsible for managing the security industry in Dubai. It was created back in 2016, to work as an independent agency. Before SIRA, the Department of Protective Systems (DPS) of Dubai Police managed this responsibility.
The agency controls the compliance and licensing of all security activities in Dubai, including (but not limited to) CCTV, surveillance and security systems, installation, maintenance and consulting. Installation of a CCTV system is also mandatory for all multi-tenant buildings and villa compounds. Without SIRA’s approval, no company can have these activities on its trade license. SIRA approves both new licenses of security companies, as well as their license renewals.
What does it mean to be a SIRA licensed company?
To be approved by SIRA a company must first have the right license and once that’s sorted, the application for your specific SIRA certification can begin. Keep in mind, there are multiple Security services licenses a company can obtain, so naturally you apply for specific activities required within your license.
