Did you know that switching to two or more screens can actually save an unbelievable amount of time? It can! And honestly, isn’t that what everyone in Dubai wants… more time? Increasing your employees’ online workspace by expanding it across two or more monitors can significantly improve productivity with minimal cost investment.

In the past, multiple screens were mainly seen with high-end programmers. But now; well, the future is here and (almost) everyone can benefit from multiple screens. Just visit Google headquarters, for example, and you’ll see awe-inspiring configurations of screens: two, four, even six monitors, stacked side-by-side or one on top of the other.

Perhaps Google is a bit ‘next level’, but the fact remains:

According to research adding an extra monitor can increase productivity by 20-30% (figures from an article published by The New York post)

If you have concerns about your team members not managing to multitask (multiple screens are not necessarily an across the board solution), increasing the monitor size might be a better solution. According to a number of studies by specialists in human-computer interaction, the bigger your employees’ screen is, the more work they can see and therefore the more work they can do. For example, employees can keep their email and chat screens open on one monitor while working on a Word or Excel document on the other. They no longer have to spend time switching between one or the other and can respond to each more quickly.

We tried this ourselves at IT-Serve.com and our CAD operators are eternally grateful. A 22-inch monitor has a productivity gain of 30% over a 19-inch screen and this increases by another 20% when using a 26-inch screen. Research shows that more than 26-inches makes no further difference though, so don’t worry, you won’t run out of desk space.

In a study commissioned by the electronics company NEC and conducted by researchers at the University of Utah, office workers were asked to perform several basic tasks using various monitor configurations. The workers using two 20-inch monitors were 44% more productive than the workers using a single 18-inch monitor. So, in short: with minimal cost you increase productivity! What are you waiting for?
