"Time management is the process of planning and exercising conscious control of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency or productivity".

That's what Wikipedia says, if you look up time management, and mastering this, will most definitely help you achieve your goals, both in your professional life as well as in your personal. But time management is about more than just reaching goals, it's about quality of life. With these ten ‘time management’ tips, you can plan, execute and manage your day and achieve success!

#1 Plan your week on Saturday

Take ten minutes on Saturday to create a plan for your whole week. Cure procrastination by breaking down your weekly goals into daily tasks, so you only need a glance at this list while working.

#2 Create a daily plan

Use the first 30 minutes of your day to create a daily to-do list that suits your weekly plan.

#3 Put a time limit on tasks

Make sure to assign a certain amount of time to each task, keeping in mind that it needs to be realistic and doable yet effective.

#4 The 60-second-rule

If something takes you 60 seconds (or less), then do it right away and be done with it.

#5 First things first

Start by getting your biggest tasks done in the morning. These are your most important tasks of the day and accomplishing those will give you the biggest momentum to help you sail through the rest of the day.

#6 Determine your desired results before a meeting

Have a clear purpose in mind before starting meetings. Your team will waste less time by getting back to work as soon as you meet your agenda.

#7 Schedule email response time

Turn off your email during the day. When emails are pouring in, it's easy to get distracted. Schedule time to read and respond to emails. If there's something urgent, someone will call or text you. But when you have your email open, those distractions interrupt your thought flow and it’s harder to get back on track.

#8 Forget perfection

If everything has to be perfect, can anything ever be good enough? Probably not. To become exceptional, you must fail repeatedly and learn from your mistakes. Look at every effort as an experiment – a valuable step on your journey, no matter what the outcome.

#9 Schedule breaks between tasks

The human brain can only focus for about 90-minutes at a time. Schedule a short break at least every 90 minutes to avoid burnout and maintain high productivity throughout your day.

#10 Declutter and organize.

Studies have shown that clutter in our environment causes us to lose focus. When we lose focus, we lose time. If you want to avoid that, declutter and organize. Clean your desk, organize your drawers and keep a clear, sharp mind on the work at hand.
