As temperatures rise in Dubai, we start closing all windows and turning up the AC’s in our offices -it’s the only way to survive the desert-heat that’s coming.

We’ve previously covered the five reasons you should be monitoring the air quality in your officeand how poor air quality can decrease productivity, so now we give you five ways to actually improve it.

1. REPLACE AIR-FILTERS REGULARLY

If your air filters are clogged, air flow becomes non-existent. Over time, dust and debris will build up behind the filters and settle inside your air ducts, putting your employees' health at even more risk. Generally, air filters should be replaced every 6-12 months.

2. KEEP IT CLEAN

An important key to good air quality, is simply keeping your office clean. Make sure you have a great cleaner or at least guidelines to ensure regularly vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing and clear away clutter and promptly dispose of all garbage as it accumulates. Keeping your office nice and clean ensures better air quality and helps cut down on productivity drains like hay fever and influenza.

3. GO GREEN

Plants do not only add a pleasing, peaceful aesthetic to any office, but they are also known as nature’s air purifiers because they can absorb toxins from the air and produce more oxygen. Just be aware that mold often grows around plants that are watered too often, so routinely check for and clean any subsequent mold growth.

4. USE AIR PURIFIERS

Air Purifiers can be portable, or they can be installed as part of your existing air-conditioning system. They remove the fine particles of pollution from the air to improve the indoor air quality; the best ones even capture extremely small particles, including bacteria. If you have a centralized filter, using ceiling fans to circulate clean air can help freshen the atmosphere throughout your office.

5. MAINTAIN A HEALTHY LEVEL OF HUMIDITY

Humidity levels between 40 and 60 percent helps to keep dust mites, mold and other allergens under control. Use dehumidifiers and air conditioners to control the humidity level in your office.
